Certificates will be issued by WSLSA to the following categories of WSL students in the following manner:
1.) First Generation Students (meaning students who learnt directly, over a period of time, from our Sifu Wong Shun Leung): certificate signed by WSLSA will be directly issued by the WSLSA.
2.) Second Generation Students: certificate will be required to be signed by both the WSLSA and the First Generation Sifu, and thereafter be issued by the WSLSA.
3.) Third Generation Students: certificate will be required to be signed by all of the WSLSA, the First Generation Sifu and the Second Generation Sifu, and thereafter be issued by the WSLSA.
The certificates of the Second and Third Generation Students are valid for 3 years from the date of issuance and will be required to be renewed upon expiry.
Reasons for this certification system is as follows:
1.) To unify the WSL family, whether on the different generations of WSL students, but also between the different generations of WSL students.
2.) To ensure that the quality of WSLVT is still maintained as we go on to the third generation by having the First Generation Students being able to oversee the Second Generation Students’ standard of teaching.
3.) The First Generation Students will have the right to certify or decline, on reasonable grounds, the certification of the Second and Third Generations Students. The Second Generation Students will also have the right to certify or decline, on reasonable grounds, the certification of the Third Generation Students as well. As many students nowadays do not cherish, value or respect the Chinese traditions of Martial Arts, which includes not only the skills aspect, but also the respect for the person who has spent much time and effort in passing his/her skills onto their students. Therefore, in an effort to maintain such Chinese Martial Arts traditions, we have built-in the above system to oversee the certification of WSL students.
It may seem like a lot of work for the First Generation Students, but we believe this system will greatly help preserve what WSLVT is really all about.
